I like the shop and they did a pretty good job for a while. Matthew does go to a lot of effort to explain things which I really appreciate. But when he said that it would be $1500 to replace the wire harness in my ancient Volvo, I decided to move on to a Volvo only shop that was closer to my home.

Matt made a house visit when my WRX was leaking oil right after an oil change. I didn't even know mechanics did housecalls! I'm so impressed with his professionalism, the friendliness of all the employees, and the cuteness of his dogs (even if they do shed a bundle).

Matt and his crew (including his lovely mom) are great people to deal with. they've cared for my subaru a number of times and will for years to come (until it meets its untimely demise). they take the time to explain to you what the problem is and how to fix it. they are sticklers to the subaru parts timeline though, it is up to you if you do or do not want the parts replaced. and the fact that they let you pet their dogs is just A+.

Paul is a straight shooter. He treats people fairly and takes the time to explain what's wrong, what needs to be repaired, and the options to making the repairs. I had a "leak" in my 7 Series BMW and took it to Paul (based on this web site's recommendation) for a quick look. He addressed the issue and found another problem and fixed it. Given the car's reliability, I had an inspection perfomed only to find the repairs the dealer had "done" were, in fact, not "done". Now I have a preventative plan to keep me from being stranded again. I will bring all my cars to Paul. If all my visits are this good, I'll keep going there!

They are very friendly, and seem to be very knowledgable and skilled mechanics. However a misunderstanding in my description of the problem resulted in them charging me $250 for them driving the car around looking for a problem that didn't exist. Additionally, they quoted me (the supposedly lowest possible price) on a catalytic converter that was more than twice as much as other places. My impression is that they are great for high-end car owners who want only original parts and for whom price isn't as much of an issue.

After being yanked around I found this great site and was steered to this shop by the overwhelmingly positive reviews. Well, the reviews are based in the reality that this is a VERY well run shop. Highly recommended, without a single reservation. Matt and his team solved both of my problems in days, giving me excellent updates as the investigation proceeded all the way through when I picked the car up. My problems were bizzare and one had stumped another local mechanic, but Matt solved them both in about three days. One of the problems involved taking my door apart from INSIDE the car to fix a corroded and broken locking mechanism that had frozen. Matt took the time to show me the exact part that had broken in person, illustrating exactly what he had previously described on the phone. I trust that this company knows what it is doing 100% - they even did some preventative maintenance on the other doors, which I personally appreciate as a long-term owner. This was the best experience I've had at a mechanic, hands down. I own a Lexus but am referring my friends with BMWs and other cars to Sunnyvale Foreign Car Service. I trust they will not be let down.

Nice friendly people-Matt is a very fast-paced talker. The only issue I had was their approach to car repair. Philosophically, I am in the "if it aint broke, don't fix it category." Matt is not. He looks to change parts at the Subaru recommended date and the routine maintainence items really get costly. My experience has been that replacement parts seldom are as reliable as the original so wait until they fail. He also did not find a small recurring problem we had with the air conditioning, he insisted it was running okay, it was not. I was not going to be concerned about the little maintanence items (he was concerned with) if there was a potentially very expensive fix necessary. He loves Subaru's and believes they have become great cars...if you would see the little flaws with the car, oil leak every 18 months or so, and have previously owned a Toyota or Honda, as we have, you would disagree.

I took my Jetta in for a coolant leak, and after it was fixed, Matthew showed me the old part and explained what caused it to break. They also alerted me that my rear brakes were completely gone when I had taken it in only for an oil change.

I love this shop! I had a problem with a repair the dealer had made to the car, and these guys explained exactly how and why the problem had occured, and fixed it the right way! They also worked really hard to avoid a $350 replacement of my mass air flow meter, not charging me any extra (beyond diagnosis) for the workaround. When the workaround didn't fix the problem (check engine light came on again) they swaped out the part in about 15 minutes and I paid only for the part, not the 15 min of time. Plus, they have really amazing shop dogs...

These guys were fantastic. My Passat had some serious and mysterious electrical problems, and Matt went right to work diagnosing it, keeping me appraised of the diagnostic costs and time (tough given the uncertainty of anything electrical). In the end, he figured it out in part through lots of networking with other VW mechanics. He fixed the problem, and then the problem that caused the problem. Most amazingly, he pointed out that much of my bill should be covered by my insurance's water damage clause, which I would have never considered, saving me $1300!! Honest, good communicator, diligent, thoughtful.
